Duncan Ward began his work as an artist almost exactly five years ago. His work is about the efforts of humans to civilize themselves and to find places for themselves, in or out of the world.
While acknowledging the impossibility of ever successfully harmonising the vast and growing total of our spectacularly and increasingly diverse and contradictory ambitions, impulses and desires into anything approaching a coherent and workable whole, Duncan nevertheless insists upon taking the most enormous pleasure in the hope that what may not be feasible in ‘real life’ may yet prove possible in the world of the artwork, with love, with joy, with wonder.
He also founded and runs the publishing house Young Mountains.
